Krystal was born and raised in southeast Nebraska. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and received a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2002. She then continued her studies at UNMC, where she attained a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies in 2004. Upon completing her studies, she and her husband moved to southwest Kansas where she worked as a Physician Assistant in a small rural hospital providing care in the ER, hospital, clinic, and nursing home - where she credits this experience with being the most formative years of her career. Years later, they returned to Nebraska to be closer to family and has continued to work in Family Practice for almost 20 years. Krystal particularly loves family practice because of the opportunity to see and care for all ages and see patients through all stages of life. "At my heart, I’m a small-town girl and value taking care of people as I would care for my neighbors." In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband, two kids, and two dogs, as well as being involved in her church.
